Description
This abbey has so much history and so many legends it is
difficult to know where to begin. It was said to have been founded by
Joseph of Arimathea and was the first church in Britain (although the
legends go further back than that) and that Joseph stuck his staff
into the ground and a Holy Thorn (still on view) flowered there. That
King Arthur is buried there. That Saint Patrick is buried there...
Location
Glastonbury is on the A361 in Somerset.

daily 9.30am-6pm or dusk (whichever earliest)

Most of the ground is level although there are some steps in the
Lady Chapel (which can still be viewed from above)
